rதமிழ் சினிமாவின் முன்னணி இயக்குநராக இருக்கும் வெற்றிமாறன் சூரியை கதாநாயகனாக வைத்து “விடுதலை” என்ற படத்தை இயக்கியிருந்தார். இந்த திரைப்படம் வசூல் ரீதியிலும், விமர்சன ரீதியிலும் வெற்றி பெற்றது. இந்த படத்தில் விஜய் சேதுபதி சிறப்பு தோற்றத்தில் நடித்து பாராட்டைப் பெற்றார். இளையராஜாவின் இசையில் பாடல்களும் பின்னணி இசையும் படத்திற்கு பலம் சேர்த்தன. “விடுதலை” படத்தை தொடர்ந்து அதன் 2ம் பாகம் வெளியாகும் என முன்னரே பட குழுவினர் அறிவித்திருந்தனர். அதன் பின்னர் இரண்டாம் பாகத்திற்கான படப்பிடிப்பு தொடங்கியது.
இந்த 2ம் பாகத்தில், நடிகை மஞ்சு வாரியர், அனுராக் கஷ்யப் மற்றும் கிஷோர் முக்கிய பாத்திரங்களில் நடித்திருக்கின்றனர். முதல் பாகத்தின் முடிவில் குமரேசனால் (சூரி) வாத்தியார் (விஜய் சேதுபதி) கைது செய்யப்படும் நிலையில், அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக 2ம் பாகம் உருவாகியுள்ளது. 2ம் பாகத்தில் விஜய் சேதுபதி வாத்தியாராக மாறுவதற்கு பின்னால் என்ன நடந்தது? சிறையில் இருந்து எவ்வாறு தப்பித்தார்? போன்ற பிளாஷ்பேக் காட்சிகளை பிரதானமாக கொண்டு உருவாகியுள்ளது. மேலும் மஞ்சு வாரியர், விஜய் சேதுபதிக்கு இடையேயான முக்கிய காட்சிகளும் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.
